Dry vs Dehydrated Skin
It’s important to understand the differences between dry and dehydrated skin before you start with any new skincare routine, so you can confidently treat the right problem.
| Dry Skin | Dehydrated Skin |
|---|---|
| Dry skin is skin that produces less sebum, which is the oil that makes your skin look healthy, and plump. | Dehydrated skin is skin that lacks water. |
| Cause: Low sebum production can be genetic, but living in a cold or dry climate, certain medications or overly drying skincare products can worsen the issue. | Cause: Not having enough water in your skin. It’s a temporary condition as you can fix it easily by drinking more water. |

It’s essential to distinguish between dry skin, a skin type, and dehydrated skin, a skin concern.
The Solution
To help your dry skin look and feel better, use products that are lipid-rich and moisturizing. Lipids help balance your skin which isn’t able to produce as much healthy oil as needed. The result is healthier, plumper skin that doesn’t feel tight or itchy. You’ll also want a good chemical exfoliant to help shed flaky, dry skin cells.
Your Dry Skin Routine
Lait E.V. Cleansing Milk with Cellular Extract
Dry skin types should use cleansing oils or milks which use gentler cleansing ingredients to maintain your skin barrier. This cleansing milk doubles as a makeup remover, so your skin can be makeup-free and fresh without that tight, stripped feeling some foaming cleansers leave.
The cleanser contains moisturizing powerhouse glycerin, and amniotic fluid to maintain your skin barrier, and protect it from drying out.
Lotion P50T
Dry skin types should exfoliate to remove dry dead skin cells that make the skin look flaky, or dull. But some exfoliators are too strong, and can actually dry your skin out more.
Lotion P50T exfoliating ingredient is lactic acid which is a gentler AHA than glycolic acid that’s recommended for dry or sensitive skin. It not only removes dead skin cells, but hydrates the skin as well, revealing smoother, fresher skin.
Do not over-exfoliate, especially on dry skin. Start by using this product once a week, and slowly increase your usage over a few weeks. Dry skin types should not exfoliate more than 2-3 times a week.
Serum T.E.W.L
Sérum T.E.W.L. is formulated with an ultra-high concentration of precious lipid-replenishing, repairing and protective oils to maintain and restore your skin’s barrier.
Sesame seed and cranberry seed oils are lipid-rich and nourish dry skin to moisturize and rebalance. Hippophäe Rhamnoides Fruit Oil and raspberry seed oil are skin-soothing, skin-protecting and help restore a healthy barrier function to protect your skin from cold, dry environments (perfect for Canadian winters).
Colostrum Serum
Colostrum serum is an intensive lipid-replenishing treatment that helps strengthen the epidermal barrier to prevent skin dryness at the surface and maintain hydration in the deeper layers.
This serum contains saccharide isomerate which binds to the skin strong and longer than other moisturizing ingredients, so your skin stays hydrated longer.
Emulsion Originelle Régénérante
An exceptional moisturizer for dry skin! The star ingredient is Xylitylglucoside, which has two functions. First, it increases the skin’s natural moisturizing factors (keeps your skin hydrated). Second, it increases lipid and protein synthesis by improving the skin barrier. The result is a more balanced skin barrier, hydrated, plump skin, and a more even complexion.
Crème VG Derm
This moisturizer is another great one for dry skin. It contains niacinamide to strengthen your skin’s barrier and soothing antioxidants to help reduce inflammation and irritation. This moisturizer delivers long-lasting hydration to the epidermis to reduce the feeling of tightness.
Crème Dermo-RL
If your skin is incredibly dry, or you’re looking for a richer moisturizer, Crème Dermo-RL is the right choice for you. This moisturizer contains shea butter, a moisturizer that also regenerates and soothes your skin’s barrier. It contains the same star ingredient as the Emulsion Originelle Régénérante, Xylitylglucoside, to increase natural moisturizing factors in the skin. The final key ingredient is hyaluronic acid which binds more water to your skin to prevent dehydration.
Serum Yall-O2
This serum is rich with hyaluronic acid to provide intense hydration. The cherry on top to your skincare routine, this finishing serum plumps fine lines, and attracts moisture to the face throughout the day to keep your skin soft and moisturized all day long.
